Hello, well we are all now at home for a further three weeks at least. Some of you will be feeling very disheartened by this news, others will not mind at all.
I’m sat somewhere in the middle – on the one hand I’m concerned for our economy moving forward, for peoples jobs & I feel for those people who are either alone or in strained relationships at this time. However I am a firm believer in always trying to see the positive in any situation. So what are the positives here for me. Well on a personal level, more time to talk with family & friends, time to catch up on my never ending to do list (who dosen’t love ticking of those jobs!) & the bigger picture – how so many people are willing to help & support each other, the support shared each week for the NHS & key workers, people shopping for each other, people caring for each other.
As a nation we give thanks each week to the NHS but there are so many other professions still working out there, some not even doing their own job roles but being re deployed to different areas. Some of you – our clients – are these people – police, supermarket workers, the postal service, banking staff – I know the list is endless. In our salon windows we have rainbow & NHS pictures, over the next couple of weeks I would love to add a list of these other professions as a way to say thank you to them too – please don’t get me wrong I completely value the NHS right now as much as the next person but lots of other professions are having to learn to adapt & work in challenging & new situations. So please help me by sending a profession you know of that we should be giving thanks to, for example teachers, lorry drivers. No personal names as at this point we cannot share those. I will over the coming weeks place posters in our windows listing any profession you tell me about – so please share with me & let us say thank you to all those people who are keeping life as “normal” as it can be at this time.
So back to that to do list – what’s the one thing you’ve been putting off that you’ve had time to do?
Have you started a new hobby yet?
Another positive, how lucky have we been with the weather, a brighter day is so much nicer than damp & dreary, For those that have gardens to get out into its such a bonus, for others that don’t I hope at least being able to open your windows, feel the air & sun are achievable.
News this week from NY. They have now closed all the dog parks (children’s play areas etc were closed weeks ago) which does make it more difficult for people to exercise their dogs obviously. Lots of people ask well how do they have dogs in such a busy city full of apartments , but honestly soooo many people do & dog parks are everywhere. Ellie is one of these people – she has such a cute dog called Nola, she’s a Labrador, collie cross rescue but quite small. So instead of running round the dog park with the other dogs Ellie is taking her running with her instead. Another development this week, anyone out of their homes must wear a face mask. Wonder if this is what we will be doing here soon.
To end can I say thank you to all the clients that have responded from last week’s email regarding rescheduling or being placed on our waitlist for when we have a re open date, your support & understanding have been greatly appreciated.
And I cannot let this week go without a huge thank you to Alison & Leanne, who have helped me in contacting all clients booked in for the next three weeks, they have willingly shared their time & their energy with me to make sure we could at least text everyone if not manage to call them. Words cannot express my gratitude to those two.
For anyone who we still have not spoken with or text, should you wish to be placed on the waitlist please still do get in touch. Once we then have a re open date we will do our absolute best to ensure we can offer you appointments as soon as is safely possible.
For now please remember we are still here & we still care so reach out if we can help in any way.
Thank you for reading once again.
Lynn
Take care, Stay safe xx
