Well the news this week – we are thrilled to tell you all, Amy’s baby has taken his time but at last he’s arrived. A baby boy, Jude weighing 8lb. Amy & Jude both doing amazing – now a family of four. Another reason to celebrate this week was Leanne’s birthday, she would normally have had a long weekend celebration & was due to be on holiday (as it was a special birthday), feel sure she will make up for it when she can.

As Alison last week, Leanne wanted to comment this week too;

Hi everyone, hope to see you all in the not too distant future, hope everyone is safe & well & staying away from those box dyes & scissors, can’t wait to get my hands on your hair again. Leanne

How many of you are struggling with your hair, I know I am. My roots at the moment I can just about cope with as I’ve been using the Neal & Wolf purple shampoo we stock , leaving it on as a toner so that’s really been helping, its great on highlighted/blonde hair to cool any unwanted tones & makes mine look more blended with my natural colour. The length however, I’m tying it up most of the time out of my way so hadn’t really noticed how much it had grown but as I’ve been on lots of Zoom meetings this last couple of weeks & video/face-time calls with many of you lovely people I’ve wanted to try & look more presentable,  if that’s even possible. It’s been okay when I first dry it but quickly gets oily with no colour at the roots & then goes flat due to my even finer than normal hair. Some of you like me maybe finding your hair is thinning, this can be for so many reasons, age, hormones, stress, medication, illness & keeping mine shorter helps it to look & feel thicker/fuller when styled. If any of you are struggling with your hair please do get in touch, I have no miracle cures unfortunately but we can chat & see if there are any styling or product options for you.  Lots of you I have spoken to already are saying as we have nowhere to go your coping okay with the roots etc & those of you that are working are mainly tying it up like me. Many of you will be thinking why hasn’t Craig cut my hair but we made the decision at the beginning not to as we simply wanted to understand how everyone else was feeling.

Lots & lots of questions initially about using home colours from supermarkets but that appears to have calmed down now so I think a lot of people are just embracing their badger stripes hopefully. Why no home colours you may all ask, well that can be down to either the product itself or the application. Some of the home colour kits contain products that are not compatible with colours we use in salon causing problems when we come to want to colour over them. Also when using colours at home it can be really difficult to only apply to your re-growth & overlapping colour causes problems with the condition of your hair. I like most hairdressers could write a whole email on the reasons why not to use them. I’m also wondering how many of you have cut your own hair or especially your children/husbands or even clippered it all off! Consolation with the cutting if you have made any mistakes it will grow out, any colour correction work is sadly time consuming & therefore expensive so please be aware & be careful.

Sadly the VE 75th anniversary plans did not go ahead this weekend, such celebrations had been planned, lots of organised city/countrywide events plus I imagine with the weather we have been having there would have been lots of street & garden parties, such an important date to remember & I think really sad we did not get to honour that time & the people – To Those Who Gave So Much – We Thank You.

VE Day 75th Anniversary Celebrations

On a positive note I feel like I’ve had a really good week this week mostly because I’ve achieved & completed tasks that I had on my to do list. Though I’ve attended many webinars & Zoom meetings I had until last week never hosted one, now I’ve done a few & it’s really not difficult at all for anyone wanting to give it a go. Also if you’ve missed any of my emails I’ve now added them all to the News section of our website with the help of Jamie Hardie from Handcart Media who provided me with a video tutorial. I in no way understand most technology other than my phone & PC so it’s been great to learn new skills. I think being productive helps us stay positive & motivated or at least it does for me & I hope you feel that way too. We have used Zoom to have team chats & family get together’s too. If there’s anyway you think that a group get together for clients would be good please let me know, it could just be a chat & catch up or us answering your questions.  if your unaware how Zoom works, we all basically log into the Zoom app via your PC, laptop, phone (if you don’t know how I can help & direct you to tutorials) & are all on talking at the same time, we can see & hear each other. The only difficulty is when everyone starts talking at the same time :)) it can get very noisy & there can be a slight delay on hearing what someone is saying but with patience & of course that glass of wine it all works out.

Once again so many of you replied to my email last week regarding feeling safe in the salon, thank you as everyone of you said you already felt the salons are a clean environment & as long as we observe the social distancing & hand washing/sanitizing you would feel comfortable to come in. Please rest assured we will be introducing any new measures outlined & have begun to order & further source extra PPE plus structure hygiene procedure policies for everyone for when we return. As I said last week at the moment we can only guess what measures will be introduced but feel if we don’t start to plan & prepare a little now we will not be ready at all when the time does come. I’m struggling more with how to ensure you will all feel relaxed & enjoy your time with us really as it’s all going to be about the hygiene & safety procedures initially but I so don’t want you all to lose that relaxation time too.

Anyway enough from me for today, some people have commented my emails are getting longer & longer (not in a negative way I think, I hope) so I’m trying to be aware how long I rattle on for, clearly I need to be back in the salon actually talking with all of you.

Love to you all & thank you again for your continued responses,

Lynn x
