Hello all of you lovely people. How are you all this week?

So many of you getting in touch to be added to the wait list & leaving your email address – for those of you that are just joining us “Welcome to our email community”

This weeks baking has been Millionaires Shortbread,(pic of Ellie’s below) seriously now I am going to need to shop online for new clothes that will fit me before we re open. This one was so much fun though as Craig & Ellie organised a face time bake off for themselves which with the baking, chatting & laughing in between it all lasted about two hours, it was so much fun to be able to spend that time with Ellie, thank goodness for technology right now. El has a Mary Berry baking book, love Mary Berry but oh my all the recipes are so full of sugar. What is your favourite cookbook/recipe, give me some healthier options here people. I have lots of cook books & really you can find everything online nowadays but what are your favs. Not just baking here as I’m a batch cook person myself too, things like pasta & curry sauce, I like to make a batch to freeze & then adapt the basic sauce to suit a number of different options.

We are now into May, where did April go. Anyone else feel like that? I honestly have no idea where the last month has gone, we have been just as busy in lockdown as normal, if not more so as we have set ourselves so many tasks to complete. I love being busy though & getting worse as I get older , I can’t sit still. However I cannot deny the thought of sitting on a beach in Long Island with a good book & a cheeky glass of wine watching the dolphins swimming in the sea, well that’s a memory I would like to be re-living now too.

As part of our planning to return to work we have this week been completing online training which has been made available from our industry training bodies/product companies on health & safety, so at whatever stage it is decided we can re open we will be more prepared for your safety & ours. Other counties are moving to re open or put plans in place – though I do monitor all this closely with regards our industry I also feel we need to wait & see what our government deem to be correct procedures at the time too. However nearer the time I think its obvious we will need to be implementing changes in the way we work in the salon, nothing definite right now but we will be contacting everyone with information as soon as we know ourselves. Question though, I know from talking to you, a fair few of you are missing your appointments but how do you feel about entering the salon when we return? What do you think would make you feel you are entering a safe environment? What would make you feel safe, secure but also comfortable & be able to relax & enjoy your time with us.

So for many of you I’ve talked of Alison & Leanne in my previous posts, some of you will know them, others may not. Well Alison has been with us more or less from the beginning, she joined us only two years after opening, how shes managed to put up with me all this time is beyond me but I love her to bits & am forever grateful she is a part of not only my work life as I think she is truly an amazing stylist & a brilliant colourist but also such a good friend too. She is always there to support & help anyone whenever needed. We have so many memories & stories to tell working with each other that long & we do manage to occasionally go away together for a long weekend, we’ve done NY, Prague, Barcelona, Rome to name a few. She’s my guide to all things alcohol, as though I like a glass of wine I might have one a week where when I’m with Alison we end up with cocktails & anything really – I’ve spent a few nights on bathroom floors when I’m with her. All my own doing however, trying to keep up with her. Too much information here I think so moving on!! Alison wanted to add you to our email this week, to reach out to everyone so here’s what she has to say:

Alison’s been keeping busy decorating, in her garden & daily workouts as both her & Leanne are obsessed with fitness (unlike me obviously!) Would like to say not too much alcohol has been consumed but as country statistics are saying alcohol sales have gone up by 30% I’m not convinced. Though truthfully that ones more on Leanne right now & yes she still maintains that amazing figure throughout, not jealous at all! For someone who rarely drinks I seem to have an alcohol theme going here this week, a sign of the times me thinks.

Well the sun is shining as I write this, the smell & sounds of grass being cut outside & I can tell my neighbours are all gearing up for their BBQ’s (in their own gardens of course) – a pretty constant positive of all of this has been the weather once again & the ability to be outside in our gardens, listening to everyone talking over fences & hedges. With social distancing in place obviously, I think a lot of people are doing a great job at getting to know their neighbours more, I hope that’s you too.
