Good afternoon everyone, hope you are all well this week.
Well as I’ve been busy with planning our reopening this week to include all risk assessments, team procedures, listing information we will need to provide for yourselves, organising team training, stock etc Alison has kindly agreed to take over this week’s email for you all again, so many, many thanks to her.
And this week I have added more products to our online shop, more to be added next week also. Please feel free to get in touch should you need any help with anything hair/beauty/nails/skin related, by any of the methods at the end of this email.
We are counting down the days to not only re opening but just to a confirmed decision & guidelines being in place!!
Until next week. Lynn x
Hello again everyone
The clock is ticking.
Hopefully it won’t be long now until we at the salon, and you, our lovely clients will meet again.
There will be scissors
There will be hair colour
There will be shampoo, conditioner and lovely scented styling products.
Yes, there will be ppe, face masks, aprons, hand sanitiser and a host of other measures we have put in place for all our safety however, the most important thing is,
There will be you
There will be us and
There will be chatter and laughter once more in the salon, the place I love to be.
I’m so excited to see you all and to transform your hair back to its glory.
My path into this career began when I was very young. After butchering several girls worlds my mind was set. When I got my apprenticeship my mum was so glad, I had to sweep up after myself, and other stylists rather than her having to constantly unblock her hoover with synthetic hair . All I needed was training and practice.
Enter Craig ( yes, Lynns husband). I began and completed my training with Craig and then not long after I met Lynn in Farsley and then as they say, the rest is history.
My passion for the artistry in this industry has never died. I believe continued training is one of the reasons. Since becoming an NVQ assessor I now enjoy another side to my job, passing my many years of knowledge on to new members of staff and now being able to help them achieve their own qualification more efficiently through salon based assessments. Lynn and Leanne are also NVQ assessors so there is lots of opportunity for the younger staff.
Through my world of life in the salon, I find myself with pockets of knowledge about so many different things. Jobs, sports, hobbies, books, places and yes, ailments. All thanks to you, the people I see every day, week , month or year.
Thank you for all that you teach without knowing.
I wonder how many of us will have had similar journeys or experiences during lock down.
I bought paint In January to freshen up my house. I sat and looked at the tub until lock down. Suddenly, I had the motivation to open it and get started. Painting is a great way to pass the time. How many of you have been decorating I wonder? It’s nice to have the rooms looking fresh.
On my last trip to New York ( with Lynn of course), I bought a couple of sketches of my favourite places in NY. They needed frames which my niece bought for my birthday. They look great on the freshly painted walls and I’m looking forward to the family being able to come in and see them. It never ceases to amaze me how small changes can make a big difference in a room.
I’m easily pleased .
Another thing that’s happened in lock down is that my cats are really weird! Is anyone else finding that?
At first they were just annoyed at me being in their space and making lots of noise during the day when they are sleeping. Then, the sun came out and the only time I saw them was when they had stolen food from every BBQ on the street .
Now, they are total limpits and follow me everywhere and chatter at me for not giving them constant attention? Help!
I was very glad for all the BBQ’s though as some of you know, they are very good at bringing home livestock!!
I think they along with myself will be glad for some sense of a normal routine to return.
Since the restrictions on travel to go walking have been lifted, I have managed to get out for a few walks in the Dales. Mainly from Pateley Bridge or out from near Bolton Abbey. It’s so nice to not have to travel far to feel like your away.
I have found new places straight out of the door to walk as well and have been able to get out most days, even between the downpours. I have noticed so many more people out for walks and it’s lovely to see families out together. I hope you have all managed to get out and have some fresh air, even if you are working from home .
So, I think I have gone on far too long now so I will say goodbye for now.
Stay safe and see you soon
Alison x
